Mon Sept 1 – Labor Day. Clear & warm, 84 in shade. We just did our usual work. Then Gladie, Emma, Jackie & I went to G.C. for awhile. Came back and John L. came. Stayed for dinner. Emma left about one o’clock, they went back to Tillamook. Billie & Elsie came after supper for awhile.
Tue Sept 2 – Clear & hot, 94 on our front porch. I put up 12 qut of pickles. Washed my hair. Charley was sick all day. After supper, Gladie, I & Fannie & Ben went to church at Shady Brook, also Gene, Lola, Dale, Oliver, Derril, Mrs. Poupore and Den Wilson & wife & 2 boys & little girl. We got home at 10:15.
Wed Sept 3 – Smokey & warm. 80 degrees at 11. I put out a wash & made some berry pies. Scrubbed kitchen. Wrote Emma a letter. Gladie went fishing got 5. We slept some. Charley went to town to Al Dilley’s to get peaches, got 2 bushel for $2.25. Dick came up about 5 o’clock brought Jennie up to Troy’s to keep awhile.
Thur Sept 4 – Cloudy & smokey, not so warm. I put up 9 qut of peaches, made 1 peach pie, & made some light bread. Charley started to disc over by Mot’s orchard. John Lilly started to build the brick chimney at Troy’s house today. Gladie went for a ride, someplace, after supper.
Fri Sept 5 – Cloudy & cooler. I canned 8 qut peaches & made 2 custard pies. Did other general work. Charley disced. Dick went up in the hills to look for a cow. Vera came over to do some cooking. Hilda came over in p.m. Ted & Thelma came down after supper. They had got a lot of new records for phonograph. Gladie & I went to G.C. to church, only 10 at church, Mrs. Poupore preached.
Sat Sept 6 – Cloudy & sunshine. We did our usual Sat. work. Afternoon, Dick went home. Gladie & I went to town to do grocery trading. Leon, Arlene & Roscoe came over from Tillamook about 8 o’clock. Brought 2 heifers over. Ben, Fannie, Gladie & I, all went to Shady Brook to church, also Arthur Clark.
Sun Sept 7 – Rained some this morning. Roscoe, Ted & Thelma stayed here all nite, then went over to Troy’s about 10 o’clock, where they had a crowd there for dinner. Billie & Elsie came down, after noon, stayed for lunch. Billie & his dad moved the wood saw home. Gladie went for a ride, some place in p.m. Charley, Ben, Fannie & I went to G.C. to church. Mr. James of Portland preached. Mrs. John Adkins was buried at Gales Creek today.
