Column | The Diaries of Esther Lilly Hundley: November 10 – November 16, 1930

Mon Nov 10 – Foggy. Did up our usual work. I made a basket design cushion for Thelma’s birthday. Glaie printed a pillow and a runner. Charley & Troy graveled road. Troy ate dinner here. We slept some in p.m.

Tue Nov 11 – Foggy. Did our usual work. I baked light bread. Grandpa H. came over. Troy was here for dinner, they finished the road. I cut quilt blocks all afternoon. Gladie made a little baby jacket for Elsie’s baby. Charley, Troy, Vera & Freddie went to F.G. to see a show, Amos ‘N Andy.

Wed Nov 12 – Rain & windy, then cleared away. I put out a wash, then wrote some letters. Gladie did some art work. Charley helped Troy get some wood. I made 30 quilt blocks by 2:30.

Thur Nov 13 – Foggy. Did our usual work. I cleaned out the hen house. Gladie did some art work. I made 30 nine patch quilt blocks. Charley helped Mr. Janceke butcher a hog, then he & Troy went to town, got back at 5. Gladie & i done up the chores. Gladie went to a show after supper. Today was Thelma’s 22nd birthday. 

Fri Nov 14 – Foggy & cold, the biggest frost yet got about all the flowers in the little garden, snow on the summit for first. We did our ironing & other work. Gladie painted a picture, Big Elk for Billie & Elsie. Gladie went over to Vera’s afternoon for first time. I embroidered some. 

Sat Nov 15 – Rain. Rain, all day. We did our usual work. Gladie, Vera & i went to F.G. in afternoon, did shopping, rained hard, got radio battery. 

Sun Nov 16 – Still rainy. We just did our usual. No one came for dinner. Afternoon I went down to Grandma’s at North Plains with Gladie, she went riding someplace. I stayed down for a show at Hillsboro “Follow Thru” in colors, a dandy show. Ted & Thelma came down for a bit.
