–Bill (written as Billie) and Elsie, Esther and Charles’ firstborn and his wife. 

–Ted and Thelma, Esther and Charles’ second-born and Ted’s wife.

–Gladys and Roy Bills (written as Mr. B. or Mr. Bills), Esther and Charles’ third-born and her boyfriend.

Thur Oct 29 – A lovely clear day. We just did usual work. Gladie finished her flower garden quilt blocks. I made a pillow out of a part of my old light summer coat. Embroidered a basket design out of yam on it. We went to post office in p.m. to send for News Telegram. After supper Billie & Elsie & Ronnie came stayed till 8:20. Gladie went out some place.

Fri Oct 30 – A nice day. We ironed. Cleaned the up stairs. Turned Gladie’s bed around in the room. Slept a bit in p.m. Then curled our hair. After supper, Ted & Thelma came down. We all went over to school house to Halloween program. Mrs. Souver Teacher. It was real good. 

Sat Oct 31-A nice day. We did usual Sat. work. Killed 2 chickens for Sunday. Afternoon, Gladie and I also Vera & Freddie went to town. Did shopping got home at 4:30. 

Sun Nov 1-Rain & sunshine. Did usual morning work & cooking for dinner. Billie and Elsie came down about 10. Afternoon, they and myself, went for a ride up around Scoggin Valley & Cherry Grove. Gladie went to Portland in p.m. After lunch, Billie, Elsie, Ronnie & I went to F. G. to a show. “Bad Girl” a good show. Gladie got back for it. We got home at 9:30. 

Mon Nov 2 – A nice day. Did morning work. Grandpa Herrick came over awhile. Then I made Gladie 2 pair outing bloomers and myself a outing gown and a table cloth out of flour sacks with orange ramona. Arthur came awhile in fore noon. Chas went to town.

Tue Nov 3 – A nice day. Did up work, then I made the print dress. Ted and Thelma gave Grandma and an apron like it. Gladie went up summit horse back riding. Arthur Clark went with her. I worked on my table cloth. 

Wed Nov 4 – A nice day. I put out a wash and made light bread. After noon we slept some.
