Find out how Washington County budgets taxpayer funds at Sept. 28 Town Hall

The Washington County Board of Commissioners will host the third of four planned county Town Halls this year Thursday, September 28 at 6 p.m., focusing on county budgeting, or how taxpayer money is spent at the county level.

The town hall will be held in-person and online, with dial in options available as well. Pre-registration is not required.

“Participants will learn about the budget process, how the County is managing current budget challenges and continuing efforts to fully implement the recently developed budget equity tool,” a press release for the event read.

Board Chair Kathryn Harrington, Commissioner Jerry Willey—who represents residents in Banks, Gales Creek, and the surrounding unincorporated communities—Commissioner Nafisa Fai, Commissioner Roy Rogers, and Commissioner Pam Treece are expected to attend.

The town hall will be physically held in the auditorium of the county’s Public Services Building (155 N 1st Ave, Hillsboro), and can also be viewed via Zoom and on Youtube. Masks are optional.

Spanish-language viewers can watch at tvctv.org and Channel 28.

The county said that staff would give a presentation, followed by an opportunity for participants to ask questions and make statements to board members, either in person, via Zoom, or in written form for those unable to attend.

Questions can be emailed to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on September 28.

In addition to Spanish language services, American Sign Language interpretation will be provided at the Town Hall. Those needing interpretation for other languages must request those services no later than Friday, September 23 by calling 503-846-8685 or by email at [email protected].
