Thur Oct 1 – Clear & beautiful. Usual work. Slept a bit in p.m. Gladie went to a show at F. G. “Younge Sinners”. 

Fri Oct 2-Clear & sunshine, some cooler. We ironed, cleaned the up stairs, churned and I went over to garden & picked seed beans for over 2 hours. Got a letter from Emma today. Fixed the cuffs on my new coat this p.m. Then Dick and another guy came by from over the mountain. They had got a big black bear. They just stayed a few minutes.

Sat Oct 3-Cloudy & sunshine. I made apple pies and we did up our usual Sat. work. Took a bath. Troy came over a while. Right after noon, Gladie & I went to F.G., did shopping. Took in a show, Buck Jones in (indecipherable), a fine show. Mack, Mildred, Ted, Thelma, Joanne and Troy, Vera & Freddie all went to Tillamook tonite. 

Sun Oct 4 – Rainy about all day. We did up just morning work. Then Charley and Gladie & I went up to Billie & Elsie’s for the day. Ronnie’s one year old birthday, only on Monday is his birthday the 5th. Elsie had a nice little dinner. Velma was there. Billie & Elsie got him a little white teddy bear suit. Gladie got him some rompers & stockings. We came home about 4. After supper, I went with Gladie to a show at Hillsboro, Jack Holt in “Fifty Fathoms Deep” a dandy show. 

Mon Oct 5 – A nice day. We did up usual work. Then I cut out and made Ronnie 2 pair of rompers. Slept some in p.m. Ted & Thelma came after supper, stayed all nite. Today Ronnie is one year old. 

Tue Oct 6 – A clear nice day. We did up morning work. Billie & Elsie came down about 8:30. Then they dug our potatoes down at Balm Grove, had them put in on shares for Mr. Petersen. They got throu about 4 o’clock had 28 sacks. Gladie & I went to the funeral of little Isobel Potts in p. m. She was shot by her mother Laura Potts Sunday morning. Then she shot herself but got over it. Was taken to hospital. The kids all stayed down for supper. Thelma started to wean Joanne today. A little over 9 months old. 

Wed Oct 7 – A nice day. I put out a wash real early, then cut out my new brown rayon dress and made it. Gladie went to G. C. to mail some letters and send for our shoes at the National. She sent for a cowboy song book to Sears.
