–Gladys and Roy Bills (written as Mr. B. or Mr. Bills), Esther and Charles’ third-born and her boyfriend.

Thur Oct 22-Showery & sun all day. We did up usual work. I canned 4 qut tomatoes, put lace on Gladie’s brown dress. Cut Charley’s hair after dinner. Cleaned out the stove. Slept a little. Troy and Freddie was here a while. Mr. Vanderzanden came and got the little Jersey bull. Payed $20 for him. Gladie went out some place after supper. 

Fri Oct 23 – A rainy day some sunshine. We did the ironing and churned other usual work. I sewed some on machine, slept a bit in p.m. I put the side curtains on old Ford. Gladie made biscuits for supper. Troy came over a while after supper. 

Sat Oct 24 – Rainy all day. We did up work. I dressed two chickens for Sunday. After noon Gladie and I went to F.G. and on to Hillsboro. Got some new shoes at Weils’s Store. $2.49 a pair. Gladie’s first spike heels. Gladie got her a brown velvet hat. $1.50 for it. We got home 4:20. 

Sun Oct 25 – A rainy day. We got up early. I fryed 2 chickens, made a big dish of potato salad and we got ready to go down to Grandma’s for her 90th birthday. Those that were there, Maggie, Bert, Norma, Edna, Wilda, Art, Eva, Ray, Billie, Elsie, Ronald, Ted, Thelma, Joanne, Grandma, Oscar, Dick, Charley, Gladie and Esther. Had a big dinner. We all took Grandma presents. We took her goods for a print dress. Gladie a vase, Billie & Elsie a nice apron, Ted & Thelma a print dress. Charley came home about 3:30, the rest of us all stayed for lunch and a show. Came to Forest Grove for a show. “Merely Mary Ann”, Jannet Gaynor & Chas Ferrill played. A dandy good show. I came on home with Billie & Elsie. 

Mon Oct 26 – Cloudy and rainy in p.m. Gladie went fishing, got 3. I changed things around in the bedroom. Slept a little in afternoon. 

Tue Oct 27 – Rainy. We did usual work. Gladie went fishing but had to come in as it rained. I started a cushion on red gingham. Gladie slept in p.m. Charley made a new porch to big door at barn. Vera gave a birthday surprise party for Troy, his 25th birthday. 

Wed Oct 28 – Cloudy & sunshine. I put out a wash. Gladie went fishing at 8:30 got back 1:15, one fish. Charley got little Holstein calf from Bill Janeck today. Troy came a while. Harry Benner, the Oregonian paper man came in p.m. I payed him 65 cts. Little Hanner found her calf, a heifer.
