BANKS - State Representative Tiffiny Mitchell, representing Gales Creek, Banks, Gaston, and cities and communities up and down the North Coast will hold a town hall event on Sunday, June 2 at 3 p.m. at the Banks Public Library.
The event is one of two such town halls on the same day, with the other in Warrenton at the Warrenton High School at 10 a.m.
The two events are the last two town halls of the Oregon legislative session in 2019, according to a newsletter from Mitchell.
"There’s a huge number of bills to get through before the end of June, and it’s likely I will spend more time in Salem rather than back in our beautiful district," Mitchell wrote.
While these are the last opportunities this session for an open town hall-style event, Mitchell's office can be reached by calling 503-986-1432, or by email at email@example.com.
According to Mitchell, additional end of session "wrap-up" events may be held after the legislative session closes, tentatively scheduled for June 21. Constitutionally, the session must end no later than June 30.
This week, the Oregon House will begin meeting on Saturdays in June to catch up on legislation after Republicans in the legislature brought business to a crawl by requiring every bill to be read in full.
On Wednesday, three House Republicans voted—two on purpose, one on accident—with Democrats, who control both chambers of Oregon's Legislature, to lift the rule that the full text of the measure be read on the floor, according to OPB.
The event will be held in the Jane Moore Community Room at the Banks Public Library, located at 42461 NW Market St Banks, OR 97106. In Warrenton, the event will be held in the gym at the Warrenton High School, located in Warrenton at 1700 S Main Ave, Warrenton, OR 97146.
