Gov. Brown pardons marijuana possession convictions for about 45,000 people
With just over a month left in her term, Gov. Kate Brown has issued a sweeping pardon for Oregonians convicted of possessing a small amount of marijuana.
Burning banned in Washington County
The ban was enacted over increased wildfire risk after several burn piles escaped their bounds and sparked November wildfires, according to FGF&R. Burning will remain banned until weather conditions change.
Democrat Tina Kotek is Oregon’s next governor
The Associated Press called the race in Kotek’s favor Thursday evening, after several counties reported the votes of tens of thousands of outstanding ballots. Kotek’s lead over Drazan has continued to grow over the past several days as more votes were reported from Multnomah County, the state’s most populous and where Kotek won nearly 70% of the vote.
Oregon governor race is two-way contest between Kotek, Drazan
Oregon’s race for governor is a two-way contest between Democrat Tina Kotek and Republican Christine Drazan, early election results showed.
With more than 1 million votes counted as of 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Kotek held a narrow lead over Drazan. Nonaffiliated candidate Betsy Johnson was in a distant third and conceded shortly after 8:30.
Historic Gales Creek home to burn Saturday in training exercise
The yellow home at the corner of Old Wilson River Road and Thornburg Road will be used in a training burn Saturday, November 5, Forest Grove Fire and Rescue said. The home was built in the early 20th century.
